Sugaring
& Waxing
Natural. Gentle. Long-lasting smooth skin.
Smooth, healthy skin done the right way
When I decided to add sugaring and waxing to Nail It Studio, the reason was simple: my clients were asking for it. They trusted us with their nails and they wanted the same standard of care for every part of their beauty routine. We approach every waxing service the same way we approach every Russian manicure. Proper training, clean technique, and real attention to your comfort and skin health. There is no cutting corners here and there never will be.
Achieve perfectly smooth skin with our expert sugaring and waxing services. Designed for comfort and precision, our treatments are gentle on the skin while delivering long-lasting results. Ideal for maintaining a clean, polished look with minimal irritation.
Sugaring vs. Waxing — which is right for you?
Both methods remove hair from the root for long-lasting results. The difference is in the product, technique, and which skin types each serves best.
Sugaring
A paste made from just three ingredients: sugar, lemon, and water. Applied at body temperature so there is zero burn risk. The paste seeps into the follicle against the direction of hair growth, then is removed with the growth. Less breakage, fewer ingrown hairs, and a gentler experience overall.
Best for: sensitive skin, bikini and Brazilian, underarms, first-time clients
Waxing
We use hard wax for sensitive areas such as bikini, face, and underarms, and soft wax for larger surfaces like legs and back. Hard wax shrink-wraps around each hair and lifts cleanly without gripping the skin. Highly effective for coarser or thicker hair.
Best for: coarse hair, large surface areas, legs, back

How your sugaring or waxing appointment works
First-time client? Here is exactly what happens from when you walk in to when you leave.
Consultation
Your esthetician asks about your skin type, sensitivities, and what results you are looking for. If it is your first time, they explain the difference between sugaring and waxing and recommend the right method for you.
Skin preparation
The area is cleansed and lightly powdered. The powder creates a gentle barrier that helps the product grip the hair and not the skin, for a more comfortable and effective service.
Sugaring or waxing
For sugaring: the paste is applied against the direction of hair growth and removed in the direction of growth using hand technique with no sticks or strips. For waxing: hard or soft wax is applied and removed with precision depending on the area being treated.
Soothing and cleanup
Any remaining residue is removed. A soothing post-treatment product is applied to calm the skin, reduce redness, and leave you feeling clean and comfortable.
Aftercare guidance
Your esthetician walks you through what to do and avoid in the next 24 to 48 hours to protect your skin and get the most from your results.
The benefits of professional sugaring and waxing
Sugar paste: just sugar, lemon, and water. No chemicals, dyes, or fragrances.
Far longer than shaving with no razor bumps or daily maintenance required.
Sugar paste sticks to hair only and not skin, reducing irritation and redness.
Hair removed with the direction of growth prevents breakage that causes ingrown hairs.
Both methods remove dead skin cells along with hair, leaving skin visibly smoother.
Every tool sterilized between appointments. Single-use products where applicable.

Sugaring and waxing questions answered
Everything you want to know before booking your first appointment at Nail It Studio in San Francisco.
What is the difference between sugaring and waxing?
Sugaring uses a paste made from only sugar, lemon, and water. It is applied against the direction of hair growth and removed with the growth, which means less breakage and fewer ingrown hairs. Waxing uses a resin-based formula. Sugaring is gentler on sensitive skin while hard waxing is more effective for coarse or thick hair. Your esthetician always recommends the best method for you before the service begins.
How much does sugaring cost in San Francisco?
At Nail It Studio, sugaring and waxing services start at $30 for facial areas like the chin, upper lip, and nose. Underarms are $35, bikini line is $50, Brazilian full is $80, upper legs are $80, and full legs are $100. View the complete menu and book online through our Square booking system.
How long does sugaring last?
Sugaring results typically last 4 to 6 weeks. Waxing results last 3 to 5 weeks. With regular appointments, many clients notice their hair grows back finer and slower over time, making each session easier and more comfortable than the last.
How long does my hair need to be?
Hair should be at least one quarter inch long, which is approximately two weeks of growth after shaving. If hair is too short, the paste or wax cannot grip it effectively and results will be uneven. If you are unsure, let it grow and we will assess at your appointment.
Is sugaring safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Sugaring paste contains only natural ingredients with no chemicals, fragrances, or dyes, making it one of the most skin-friendly hair removal options available. It is hypoallergenic and applied at body temperature, eliminating any burn risk.
Can I get a Brazilian if it is my first time?
Absolutely. We welcome first-time clients and walk you through everything before we start. We work at your comfort level and explain each step as we go. Many clients are surprised by how manageable the experience is with a skilled, experienced esthetician.
Individual results may vary. All skin types respond differently to sugaring and waxing services. Nail It Studio cannot guarantee identical results for every client. Factors including skin sensitivity, hair texture, hormonal changes, and aftercare routine affect the outcome of each treatment. We encourage all clients to discuss any skin concerns or conditions with their esthetician before their appointment.
